(Posted on Saturday, December 3, 2016)

Source: Mauritius News Information Portal (Port-Louis)

Mauritius' government has announced that it would not declare Tuesday, January 3, 2017, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Mauritius, as it had done under similar circumstances, 6 years ago.

Monday, January 3, 2011, had been declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Mauritius, at the end of the previous year (24-Jun-2010), when Prime Minister Ramgoolam realized that the annual public holidays of January 1 and 2 both fell on a weekend in 2011.

However, the following year (24-Dec-2011), Mauritius' government did not declare Tuesday, January 3, 2012, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Mauritius.
