The government of Togo has issued a communiqué announcing that Monday, January 2, 2017, had been declared as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Togo ("chômée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire national").

The aforementioned communiqué, announcing that Monday, January 2, 2017, had been declared as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Togo, applies to both the public and private sectors ("Afin de permettre à toute la population, notamment les travailleurs de tous les secteurs d’activités de jouir pleinement des festivités de fin d’année, la journée du lundi 02 janvier 2017, est déclarée chômée et payée sur l’ensemble du territoire national").

A few years ago (30-Dec-2011), the government of Togo had also declared Monday, January 2, 2012, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Togo, and more recently, the Minister of Labour of the government of Togo had announced that Friday, January 2, 2015, had been declared as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Togo (29-Dec-2014).
