Tongan 2017 Public Holidays Announced

(Posted on Saturday, December 24, 2016)

Tonga's Ministry of Information and Communications in conjunction with the Prime Minister's Office of the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga, has issued a communiqué announcing its annual list of official non-working public holidays in Tonga for the upcoming calendar year 2017.

As was the case for the past 3 years (12-Nov-2015, 20-Dec-2014 and 02-Jan-2014), but contrary to what happened in years before that (04-Jan-2013 and 06-Jan-2012), the aforementioned list of 2017 non-working public holidays in Tonga is in line with the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" (Act No. 10 of 2010) which moves the date of some mid-week public holidays to the nearest Monday (19-May-2010 and 08-Apr-2010).
