The Minister of Labour of the RDC (République Démocratique du Congo), Lambert Matuku Memas, has announced that Wednesday, January 4, 2017, would be a non-working public holiday in the Democratic Republic of the Congo ("déclarée chômée et payée sur toute l’étendu du territoire national").

The aforementioned announcement by the RDC's ministre d’Etat, ministre du Travail, emploi et prévoyance sociale of a non-working public holiday on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, is in line with the expected but not yet announced annual list of the non-working public holidays in the DRC (06-Jan-2016) for the calendar year 2017, as well as with the Ordonnance no 71-326 du 31 décembre 1971 fixant les jours fériés légaux and the Ordonnance Présidentielle n° 79/154 du 23 juin 1979.
