Indian Karnataka Public Holiday January 3

Following the death, earlier today, from a heart attack of Karnataka Cooperation and Sugar Minister, H S Mahadev Prasad, the Government of India's State of Karnataka has declared a one-day government holiday for today, Tuesday, January 3, 2016.

As per the aforementioned announcement that the Government of India's State of Karnataka has declared a one-day government holiday for today, Tuesday, January 3, 2016, this will be followed by 3 days of state mourning.

Karnataka has declared one-off public holidays in the past when current or past politicians have died (25-Dec-2011, 03-Sep-2009, 27-Nov-2008 and 08-Jul-2007).
