Nicaragua's Vice-President, Rosario Murillo has announced that Thursday and Friday, September 14-15, 2017, would be non-working public holiday (feriados nacionales obligatorios) in Nicaragua to mark the annual non-working public holidays commemorating the Battle of San Jacinto and Nicaragua's Independence Day public holiday.
Contrary to what happened 4 years ago (14-Sep-2013), there was no need to invoke Article 68 of the Nicaraguan Labour Code which states that holidays that fall on Sundays are either financially compensated, or an alternative date is given.
