Source: The Daily Star + Bangladesh News 24 + Reuters India - Summary: As reported in our posts of August 6, and August 13, 2007, The High Court of Bangladesh was asked, last summer, to rule on the constitutionality of the cancelling of the August 15 annual public holiday.
The High Court finally released its judgement, earlier today, and ruled that August 15, the day of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's assassination in 1975, be restored as national mourning day and a public holiday (the date had been declared a public holiday in 1996, but this was cancelled in 2002).
