Source: Russian Duma (Moscow) - Summary: A member of the Russian State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy, Gregory Anikeev, has proposed amending the 2004 law on public holidays in Russia to move 2 days of public holidays from January to the month of May.
As per the 2004 law on public holidays in Russia (our December 30, 2004, news update), the first five non-holiday weekdays of January are public holidays. The proposed change would amend this to limit the early January public holidays to the first 3 weekdays, and move the 2 other public holidays to May 2 and 3 to afford Russians with a 3-day, May 1-3, public holiday in May.
