Summary: The ruling Democratic Progressive Party and the the opposition Kuomintang Party are slowly moving towards an agreement on a two-in-one election (both Presidential and Legislative Elections), on the same date of January 19, 2008.
This change would pose problems in the face of past traditions, particularly the maximum delay between the Presidential Election and the President's swearing-in, but the Central Election Commission said that it was open to any suggestion that balances tradition and the demand from political parties.
