Background Information

Governing Law: The public holidays in Zimbabwe are either specified in terms of subsection (1), or declared in terms of subsection (2) of section 2, of the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act [Chapter 10:21].  Weekend Public Holidays:Public holidays that fall on a Sunday are moved to the next Monday.  Many companies close for one to two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period.  National Unity Day is a public holiday gazetted through Statutory Instrument 156 of 1997 to mark the signing of the Unity Accord between the country's two revolutionary parties, Zanu-PF and PF Zapu, on December 22, 1987, in Harare.  Zimbabwe International Codes ZW and ZWE (2 and 3-letter ISO3166 codes) and .zw (ICANN national top-level internet domain).
