Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Q++ Database Server runs on the PC used as Q++ Server, and manages all data connections between Q++ users and the database of scripts, templates and data. It should always be running, except under some rare circumstances when you may be instructed by technical support to stop it or start it manually as described below.

Starting / Launching

To start/launch the Q++ Database Server, you need to stop the Q++ Application Server and then start it again. This will automatically launch the database server (do not try to launch the database server directly).

Stopping

To stop the Q++ Database Server, right-click on the Q++ Database Server icon in the Windows Notification Tray Area and select the Exit menu option.

Restarting

To restart the Q++ Database Server, stop and then launch the Q++ Database Server as described above.

Open/Display the User Interface

To open/display the User Interface (UI) of the Q++ Database Server, double-click on the Q++ Database Server icon in the Windows Notification Tray Area.

Determine the IP Address of the Database Server

To determine the IP address of the database server, open the user interface, as described above, then in the TreeView on the left, select TCP/IPv4 Transport, and note the first IP address that appears on the right.

Load Settings File

To load a settings file, open the user interface, as described above, then select the Settings menu then the Load Settings from ... menu item. In the dialog that opens-up, in the Files of type field select All files and then the file that you want to use as settings file.

Change Database Alias

To load a settings file, open the user interface, as described above, then in the TreeView on the left, select Aliases, then in the list of Aliases on the right, select DATA.

Finally at the bottom-right change the path of the Alias and click on Update.

Important: starting or stopping the Q++ Database Server is always performed by sitting directly at the PC used as Q++ Server (ie. it cannot be done over the network).
