Executing a Script / Diary Generation

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Generating a diary (executing the current script) in Q++ is very quick, less than 2 minutes in most cases. It is therefore usual to test your script as soon as you can. The essential condition for you to be able to generate a diary is that there remain no error messages in the Messages Window.

To execute the current Script, press F9 or use the RUN|execute menu or its associated button on the toolbar. If you have a large script (many pages and/or many ScriptLines), and you are concentrating on getting one particular grid done (or re-done), then you can choose to only generate a single scriptline.

The RUN|execute menu or its associated button on the toolbar will remain disabled as long as there are error messages in the Messages Window.

Throughout this help file, we will use the terms "execute a Script", "generate a diary" or create an output file" interchangeably.

Clicking on the OK button starts diary generation.
