To install the XE2 version of Q++Studio on a workstation on which Q++Studio was never installed (but at least one other workstation is already running the XE2 version of Q++Studio)
1)Make sure that the workstation meets the Configuration Requirements. In particular:
•Create a network drive Q:\ which maps directly to the C:\ drive of the Q++ Server (if you do not know how to do this, see the instructions here).
•To allow technical support to assist you, if needed, please install TeamViewer exactly as described here, using the download links of that page, an using qpp160396 as password in step 8 of the TeamViewer instructions.
2)Copy the entire folder C:\Q++StudioXE2\ from one of the workstations on which Q++Studio is installed and functioning properly, to the C:\ drive of the target workstation.
3)Copy the entire folder C:\Qpp\ from one of the workstations on which Q++Studio is installed and functioning properly, to the C:\ drive of the target workstation.
4)Install the version of QuarkXPress that you plan to use on this new workstation, making sure to accept the default installation path that the installation program proposes (otherwise, future upgrades of QuarkXPress may be difficult, or even impossible).
a)Apply all necessary updates to bring your version of QuarkXPress to either of the minimum QuarkXPress versions required.
b)If you have installed QuarkXPress 6, or above, launch it once and go through the activation process.
5)At this step, there are 2 options, depending if you want to have Q++ technical support complete the installation for you:
a.If you wish to have Q++ Technical Support complete the installation for you, then install the bespoke version of TeamViewer on this new PC (using the password qpp160396 when asked to choose a password), and wait to hear that the installation is complete.
b.If you prefer to complete the installation yourself, then sitting at the workstation, open the folder Q:\Q++ServerXE2\ and double-click on the program Q++UsersXE2.exe. Wait for 20 seconds and then email us the file Q++UsersXE2.ini, located in the same folder, and wait for an email from technical support, in response to the ini file you sent.
6)Once you have received an email from technical support, telling you that the license files have been updated, double-click on the program file
on this new PC. This will automatically download the updated license files and complete the installation.
7)Install all the fonts located in the folder Q:\Q++ServerXE2\Setup\Fonts\.
8)Launch Q++Studio normally.
9)Follow the steps described here, to make sure that your version of Q++Studio is setup to work with the versions of QuarkXPress installed on your computer.
10)To allow Q++ technical support to better assist you in the future, if you did not do this in step 5a, then you should install the bespoke version of TeamViewer on this new PC (using the password qpp160396 when asked to choose a password).
