Holidays Set Properties |
|
To view Holidays Sets properties, select a Holidays Set in either the Holidays Manager or the Saints Manager, and click on the Properties button. This brings up the Modify Holidays Set dialog.

This dialog is made up of 2 tabs : Properties and Additional Information.
Properties tab
You can set a 4-character default abbreviation for each Holidays Set (at the right of the Name of Set field). This abbreviation will be used for the abbreviation whenever you create a new holiday for this set. This abbreviation will also be used to display the selected Holidays Sets in the All Dates property editor.
Default Priority |
Set this default holiday priority value (1 is highest, 10 is average and 20 is lowest) so that any holidays created for this holidays set are automatically assigned this priority. This is useful when you are combining many holidays sets and wish all holidays from one set to have priority over all holidays of other sets. |
Symbol Font |
The Symbol Font is the font used to display a symbol on the occurrence of a holiday. Usually this might be an oval containing an abbreviated country name (such as F for France or USA for the United States), or a religious symbol (such as a cross for Christian holidays, a star of David for Jewish holidays and a Muslim crescent for Muslim holidays). Examples of countries symbols, and religious symbols are :
|
|
Symbols can be placed in a GridTemplate by themselves using the token [â], or they can be included with the name of the holiday, using the token [Fa] and the display symbol option of the Holidays (display)property. To associate particular symbols with the occurrence of certain holidays, see Creating or Modifying a Holiday. Each Holidays Set can have its own Symbol Font, but within each Holidays Set, every Holiday must use the same symbol font. |
Default Symbols |
The default symbols you set for a Holidays Sets will be inserted by default when you create a new holiday. This is particularly useful when you are entering a series of holidays for a country which will all use the same Holidays Symbol. The font used to set the Default Symbols is that selected above in the Symbol Font ComboBox. If you remember the keyboard character used to display these symbols, you can type them in directly. Otherwise, you can click on the left button to open the holidays symbols selection dialog. If the list of symbols already exist in text form, you can click on the right button to use the text to symbols conversion. You will of course be able to later modify the default symbols for each holiday created. |
Display Font |
You will rarely need to change the Display Font. It is used whenever you are dealing with East European or Scandinavian languages and you need to have access to characters which are not available on your keyboard, to enter text for holidays, saints or token translations. The Display Font only affects what is displayed to you when you enter the name of a holiday or the translation for a given token, and does not affect the Output File in any way. The fonts used in your GridTemplate will be the fonts that appear in the output file. |
Muslim Calendar |
This lets you select which of the Muslim Calendars defined in Q++ will be used to calculate Muslim Holidays for the current Holidays Set. By default, all Holidays Sets are created using the Q++ Default Muslim Calendar, unless you have set a different value in the International Preferences. If you do not plan on using Muslim holidays in the current Holidays Set, you should leave that setting unchanged, since it can easily generate messages about inconsistency with the Muslim Calendar Data Source property. |

Additional Information tab
This tab is used to add your own comments to each holidays set. For example it may contain assumptions used in building up the holidays list, or telephone numbers used to contact sources for arbitrary dates holidays.

This information can also be viewed and modified directly from within the Holidays Manager (as shown above).
