Creating and Modifying Slogans

Slogans are edited at the bottom-right of the Slogans Manager. There are 3 parts to each Slogan: its text, its sequence, and its associated graphic (if any).

Editing a Slogan's Text : to modify the text in a Slogan, simply type into the Slogan Editor. Note that any underscore character "_" (without the quotes) contained in this string will be replaced by a non-breaking space.

Use the Bold-Italic-Underline buttons to change the attributes of various parts of your Slogan.

You can use carriage returns; Q++ will transform them into "soft-returns". Alternatively you can use the hard and soft returns Special Characters Tokens to make your choice of soft or hard return unambiguous.

Editing a Slogan's Sequence : depending on the type of Slogan Set, the left part of the Slogan Editor appears differently :

In the case of  "cyclical" Slogan Sets, the sequence is a simple number, modified with a spin edit control.

In the case of "month-day" Slogan Sets, the sequence is edited using a combo box for the month and a spin edit for the day.

In the case of a "specific date" Slogan Set, the sequence is edited by selecting a date from a calendar control.

Note that the sequence of each Slogan within a Slogan Set is unique. Q++ will warn you if you try to save Slogans with duplicate sequence numbers.

Associating a Graphic with some or all Slogans. You can choose to have a graphic displayed instead of text for each Slogan. To do so, you must use the [:slimXX_label] tokens, using the filename selected in this option. Note that the textbox containing these token are transformed into a picturebox and that therefore any other text (including tokens) in the same textbox will be ignored (although Q++ will issue a warning). You can use any type of graphical files accepted by QuarkXPress as a valid picturebox file : Bitmap Files (BMP, DIB, RLE), PCX Files (PCX), GIF Files (GIF), Windows Metafiles (WMF), TIFF Files (TIF), EPS Files (EPS, AI), Mac Pict Files (PCT), Scitex CT Files (CT, SCT), JPEG Files (JPG), Photo CD Files (PCD). Graphic Alignment : this option lets you select the graphic's alignment within the output file's picturebox.

When you are done, click on the SAVE or CANCEL buttons, located at the top right of the Slogans Manager dialog.
