Property of the ScriptLine : Pre-Processing.
This property is used to try to avoid some of the pitfalls of using master pages when generating a diary
These potential pitfalls include : a significant slowdown in diary generation (QuarkXPress 4, 5 and 6), master pages multiplied by the number of pages (QuarkXPress 4, 5 and 6) and leading to a QuarkXPress crash during diary generation (QuarkXPress 5, mostly), and tokens that appear in master pages not being recognized by QuarkXPress (QuarkXPress 5, tokens appear in the output file but have not been converted). Note that this property has no effect under QuarkXPress 3, as the above problems do not exist under QuarkXPress 3.
This property has 3 possible values :
Quark Default Recommended unless you have a problem |
Lets QuarkXPress copy pages that contain master pages normally (what constitutes normally differs in each version of QuarkXPress). Use this setting if you are not using master pages, or if the diary generates correctly (some grids that use master pages, inexplicably work fine from one version of QuarkXPress to the next). |
Strip Master Pages Recommended for Quark 4 problems |
Q++ will remove master pages from the copy of the GridTemplate(s) used in the current script. The output file will contain all elements of the original grids, but will not contain any master pages anymore. You should only use this setting under QuarkXPress 4 (under QuarkXPress 5 and 6, none of the elements contained in the master pages will appear in the output file). |
Re-Build Master Pages Recommended for Quark 5 problems |
Q++ will make sure that each master page occurs only once in the output file, and will re-link pages to the correct master page. However any tokens contained on the master pages will be ignored by QuarkXPress (make sure the master pages contain no tokens). |
We usually recommend staying away from Quark Master Pagesbecause each new version of QuarkXPress changes the way that master pages are handled internally which means that GridTemplates that contain master pages may not work in subsequent version of QuarkXPress.
