City Properties

Return to Introduction  Previous page  Next page

Each of the cities/locations listed in the configuration program's main window can be modified or changed by selecting it in the list of cities, and then clicking on the Modify button. This opens up the Location Properties window shown below.

The information that defines each city/location is:

City

The name of the city, as it will be displayed on your desktop. Make sure that the name is not too long, and avoid names that contain apostrophes. You can use the ellipsis button [...] to select one of the sample cities.

Country

The name of the country, to which the selected city belongs. This is mainly used to enable you to sort the list of cities in the configuration main window.

Geographical Coordinates

The latitude, longitude and time zone of the city/location. If you used the ellipsis button [...] to select one of the sample cities, then this information is already filled-out. If the exact city you are looking for is not in the samples database, then you can modify it manually, using information obtained on web sites such as http://www.timeanddate.com.

Position Adjustment

The Position Preview map shows where the dot corresponding to your city will appear on the desktop. Usually, the horizontal position calculated from the longitude selected above is correct. But you may have to manually change the vertical position, so that the displayed vertical position is visually correct.

Summer Time Rules

The rules, if any governing the beginning and end of summer time for the current city/location. If you used the ellipsis button [...] to select one of the sample cities, then this information is already filled-out. However, this information changes often and we recommend that you double-check these settings using information obtained on web sites such as http://www.timeanddate.com.

As mentioned above, you can use the ellipsis button [...] to select one of the sample cities.
