The Bankers' Association of Venezuela (Asociación Bancaria de Venezuela) has announced that Monday and Tuesday, February 23-24, 1998, would be bank holidays in Venezuela on account of the upcoming Carnival.
Venezuelan banks have traditionally observed Shrove Monday and Fat Tuesday as bank holidays, although other sectors of the Venezuelan economy do not benefit from a non-working public holiday for Carnival.
