Newly elected Kenyan President, Mwai Kibaki, has declared Thursday, January 2, 2003, a one-off post-election public holiday to allow Kenyans to celebrate their victory.
Five years ago (1997-12-15), the government of Kenya had declared Monday, December 29th, 1997, as a one-off public holiday for the purposes of general, civic, parliamentary and presidential elections.
