Thailand's Cabinet has announced that it had declared the temporary closing of commercial banks on Monday and Tuesday, October 20 and 21, 2003, during the upcoming summit of Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC).

The decision, based on earlier discussions between Deputy Prime Minister, Wissanu Krea-Ngam, and the Governor of Bank of Thailand, M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, follows last summer's decision to award 4 additional non-working public holidays to civil servants (2003-08-07 and 2003-08-11).
