Following last Tuesday's cabinet meeting, the government of Thailand has announced that, henceforth, 2-day non-working public holidays that cover both Saturday and Sunday will only give rise to one day in lieu non-working public holiday on the following Monday.

This aforementioned change will mostly apply to the Songkran, Thai New Year, annual public holidays whose dates were last amended at the end of the last decade (02-Apr-1997).
