Philippines May 2 Day In Lieu Public Holiday

Malacanang's Executive Secretary, Eduardo Ermita, announced the issuance of Proclamation No. 837 declaring Monday, May 2, 2005, as a special one-off non-working public holiday, throughout the country.

This was done due to the fact that the annual public holiday of May 1st falls on a Sunday, this year.

However, all activities and celebration in observance of Labor Day will be observed on Sunday, May 1st.
