Burundi Declares April 6 Public Holiday

Earlier this week, Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza signed a decree, making April 6, the date of the assassination of President Ntaryamira, a public holiday in Burundi.

In addition, as per the aforementioned "DÉCRET n° 100/182 — Fixation de la liste et du régime des jours fériés" (B.O.B., 2006, n° 1, p. 14), the 2 main Muslim holidays of Aid-El-Fithr (end of Ramadan) and Aid-El-Hadj (Feast of Sacrifice) are now official public holidays in Burundi (2005-11-01).
