President Alfredo Palacio declared Monday January 15, 2007, a public holiday for all residents of Quito and surrounding communes, to facilitate traffic on the day of the passation of powers to his successor, Rafael Correa.
The areas concerned are the Distrito Metropolitano de Quito and the adjoining communes of Pomasqui and San Antonio de Pichincha.
