Indonesia Announces Date Of 2009 General Elections

Indonesia's General Elections Commission (KPU) has announced that next year's general elections will be held on April 9, 2009.

The dates of parliamentary and presidential elections have usually been declared one-off public holidays (30-Mar-2004).

These legislative election will be followed by the presidential election in July and, if needed, a second round in September.
