Malaysia New November 25 Public Holiday Promised If PR Is Elected

(Posted on Wednesday, November 26, 2008)

Speaking at a rally commemorating the anniversary of November 25, 2007, last night, Penang State Deputy Chief Minister, P. Ramasamy, promised that November 25 would become a Federal public holiday in Malaysia if the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) party captured the federal government in the next elections.

Deputy Chief Minister Ramasamy further added that he would ask PR-ruled Penang State to declare a state public holiday on November 25.

Note, however, that another "new" Penang state public holiday has already been promised (01-Sep-2008) so it is doubtful that 2009 could see 2 new state public holidays in Penang.
