Earlier today, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Proclamation No.1462 declaring Monday, February 25, 2008, as a Special Non-Working Day throughout the country in connection with the observance of the 22nd anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. In addition,

President Arroyo also signed Proclamation No.1463, "Declaring the regular holidays and special non-working days for 2008".

Apart from implementing, for 2008, the terms of Republic Act 9492 (25-Jul-2007), Proclamation 1463 also adds 3 one-off non-working public holidays in 2008; December 26 and 29 "so that Filipinos would have a more meaningful observance of Christmas and New Year to strengthen their ties with one another", and December 31 "because it is the last day of the year".
