Local media sources in Antigua and Barbuda expect Friday, March 13, 2009, the day after today's general elections, to be declared a one-off public holiday, "regardless of which party wins".

Declaring a public holiday on the day after an election is quite a common practice in the Caribbean (see, for example, Barbados, 2008-01-17, 2003-05-21, and Grenada 2008-07-09, 2003-11-27, and 2003-10-21).
