Bahrain's Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa, has issued a circular announcing that Bahrain's ministries and establishments will be closed on December 26th and 27th, 2009, to mark Ashura for the Islamic year 1431.

In a manner similar to other recent announcements (17-Dec-2009), the circular goes on to point out that, because the aforementioned period covers a weekend day of rest, an additional non-working public holiday has been declared for Monday, December 28, 2009.
