Fiji 2010 Public Holidays Announced

The Fiji Governing Cabinet has approved the list of the dates of public holidays for the year 2010, including the always uncertain local dates for the Prophet's Birthday, Diwali, and Youth Day.

Note that, this is the 7th year in a row that both Youth Day and the Queen's Birthday are included in the official list of Fiji public holidays, despite both holidays having been canceled in 2002 (2002-01-06).

This is also the 6th year in a row that the Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Day public holiday is listed as an official public holidays for the coming year, despite the fact that it was originally declared as a one-off public holiday (2004-04-21).

This official announcement is much later than in previous years (2008-05-21 and 2007-03-29), possibly following the 2009 Diwali date fiasco in Singapore which saw the date of that public holiday, announced in March 2008, changed by a whole month, only half a year before the actual date of that public holiday (2009-02-10), despite "qppstudio.net" having alerted the Singapore Government to their error in February 2008 (2008-02-25).
