The Iraqi Cabinet has approved plans to hold a July 30 national referendum on the country's security agreement with the United States.

The security agreement was signed last January 1st, a date which was to henceforth be a public holiday called "Sovereignty Day" (2009-01-02).

The date of the referendum, yet to be approved by the Iraqi Parliament, would probably be declared a public holiday, based on previous elections and referenda (2009-01-24, 2005-12-10, and 2005-10-02).
