Japan is getting ready for its first "Silver Week" of public holidays that will run from Saturday, September 19, to Wednesday, September 23, 2009.
This five-day sequences of public holidays, nicknamed Silver Week in reference to the April-May Golden Week, was made possible due to a 2005 law (effective 2007) that makes any date that falls between 2 public holidays, also a public holiday (2005-05-15).
Another 5-day Silver Week will occur in 2015 and then again in 2026.
