The government of Kazakhstan has declared a one-off bridge public holiday on Friday, January 8, 2010.
As per custom in such cases (2009-12-01, 2008-04-21 and 2007-11-21), this extra non-working public holiday will be compensated by having declared Sunday, January 10, 2010, as a regular working day. Note that such bridge public holidays declarations are not systematic (2008-12-12 and 2006-08-25).
In a separate, announcement, the government of Kazakhstan confirmed that Monday, January 4, 2010, would be a non-working public holiday, as January 2 falls on a weekend day. This day in lieu public holiday shall not be compensated.
