Niger Declares October 20 Public Holiday

The government of Niger has declared the date of the upcoming legislative elections, Tuesday, October 20, 2009, a one-off public holiday.

Recall that Niger's President, Mamadou Tandja, had also declared a public holiday on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, on the occasion of Niger's recent constitutional change referendum (2009-08-03).
