Paraguay Declares April 8 Half-Day Public Sector Holiday

Paraguay's President, Fernando Lugo, has issued executive decree Nº 1.775 making Wednesday, April 8, 2009, a public sector holiday to allow Paraguay's public sector to begin the Semana Santa (Holy Week) public holidays one half-day before the rest of the country.

This decree, which applies to "los Funcionarios de la Administración Pública y de las Entidades Descentralizadas", specifies that the Paraguayan public sector would be back to work on Monday, April 13, 2009.
