Qatar's Central Bank (QCB) has announced that banks in Qatar will be closed for three days for Eid Al-Fitr holidays starting on the first day of the upcoming Eid (expected on Sunday, September 20, 2009).

The Qatar Exchange (QE) made a separate, but similar, announcement concerning the stock market.

The Crescent Moon Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs has called upon all Muslims in Qatar to sight the new crescent moon of Shawwal tomorrow evening, although the first day of the Eid is expected to be on Sunday, September 20, 2009.

The government and public sector are expected, as usual (2008-09-17), to start the Eid public holidays 2 days before the Eid and last one day more than the private sector, until Shawwal 4.
