Thailand's deputy spokesman to the Prime Minister's Office, Mr. Supparak Kuanha, has announced that the Cabinet had approved the declaration of Monday, July 6, 2009, as a one-off bridge public holiday, thus creating a 4-day public holiday.

This one-off public holiday, which occurs before the July 7 public holiday for Asanha Bucha Day (the day before the Buddhist Lent), had already been discussed for the public sector (2009-02-18) and is in line with the recent bridge public holidays policy of Thailand (2008-12-09).

Note that, since 2007 (B.E. 2550), the Buddhist Lent public holiday has been dropped, and has been replaced by the Asarnha Bucha Day (2006-11-16).
