Argentina Clarifies April 2 Double Public Holiday

Source: Telam (Buenos Aires)

The government of Argentina has confirmed that there would be no additional, day in lieu, public holiday to compensate the fact that this year's Good Friday falls on the same date as the annual, April 2, Día del Veterano y de los Caídos en Malvinas, public holiday.

This clarification confirms the official list of Argentina's public holidays, released by Argentina's Ministry of the Interior last summer (2009-08-14).

The law relating to the April 2 public holiday was amended in 2006, to make its date immovable (2006-06-07) and a similar conjunction of the week before Easter and April 2nd, a few years ago, also had no impact on that year's calendar of public holidays (2007-03-16).
