At the last Falkland Islands Executive Council (Exco) meeting, the Exco advised the Acting Governor, Ric Nye, to issue a notice appointing December 29, 2010, as a public holiday.

In addition, at that same meeting, the Exco asked the Governor to declare April 29, 2011, the date of the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton, a one-off public holiday in the Falkland Islands.

The UK (2010-11-23), Scotland (2010-11-24), and the Isle of Man (2010-11-26), have already announced that April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday, while Jersey (2010-11-22), Gibraltar (2010-12-01), and Guernsey and Alderney (2010-12-02) are currently considering the idea.
