Iraq Declares Islamic New Year Public Holiday

Iraq's Secretariat of the Council of Ministers has announced that Tuesday, December 7, 2010, would be an official public holiday on account of the upcoming Hijra new year 1432.

The Islamic new year public holiday survived the 2008 overhaul of Iraq's public holiday 2008-02-08), although it has been moved around to match nearby weekends in the past (2008-01-08).
