Kenya's Head of Public Service, Francis Muthaura, has announced that, by Friday, he will have gazetted a public holiday to mark the end of the month of Ramadhan (Eid-Ul-Fitr) on Saturday, September 11, 2010.
Kenya's acting Chief, Kadhi Sheikh Ahmad Muhdhar, has said, however, that, notwithstanding the public holiday on Saturday, Muslims might mark Eid-Ul-Fitr on Friday if the new moon is sighted on Thursday.
Last year also (2009-09-11), Kenya declared its End of Ramadan public holiday one day later than most other Muslim countries.
