Oman Declares 9-Day Eid Public Sector Holidays

The Omani Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court, Sayyid Ali Bin Hamoud Bin Ali Al Busaidi, has announced that Oman's public sector employees will have a nine-day holiday for the upcoming Eid Al Fitr.

The Omani public sector holidays declared are from September 11 to September 15, 2010, inclusively, which when tallied with the Thursday/Friday weekend of September 9/10, and 16/17, means 9 days of consecutive public sector holidays, from Thursday, September 9, until Friday, September 17, 2010, inclusively.

For its part, 4 days of public holidays have been declared for the private sector; from Saturday, September 11, until Tuesday, September 14, 2010, which when tallied with the Friday September 10, private sector weekend means a 5-day public holiday.

Last year (2009-09-17), both the public and private sectors of Oman got five days off for the Eid Al Fitr public holidays.
