Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr., of the Philippines Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), has announced that Malacaρang would soon issue a proclamation listing the regular and special holidays for 2011 "to give the public time to plan ahead their activities".

Last year, Philippines President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Proclamation 1841 declaring 10 regular public holidays, four special non-working public holidays and one special public holiday for the calendar year 2010, well in advance (22-Jul-2009).

However, in previous years, the official declaration of public holidays for the year to come came much later in the year, and in some cases after the year had begun (07-Jan-2009).
