The public administration ministry of Bangladesh's government has issued a circular announcing that the upcoming public holiday for the Shab-e-Barat would be observed on Monday, July 18, instead of the previously announced date of Sunday, July 17, 2011.
The aforementioned date of Sunday, July 17, 2011, for the for the Shab-e-Barat public holiday was in the list of official public holidays for the calendar year 2011 which had been approved by the Bangladesh Government Cabinet, last fall (19-Oct-2010).
However, late last week (05-Jul-2011), Bangladesh's National Moon Sighting Committee had announced that the upcoming Shab-e-Barat would be observed on the evening of July 17, 2011, meaning that there was a chance that the Government would move the official date of that public holiday to the following day.
