Brazil has introduced a bill that allows States and Municipalities to declare one-off public holidays whenever a selection game, in 2013, or a FIFA World Cup game, in 2014, occurs in their jurisdiction.
The aforementioned bill echoes last year's (2010-08-27) bill introduced by Deputy Felipe Bornier that would have declared a public holiday on days when the Brazilian national football team played in the World Cup.
A very similar bill was also introduced last spring (2010-05-13) by Brazilian PL deputy, Mendes Thames, and which would declare a series of additional June public holidays, every 4 years, to coincide with Brazil's participation in the FIFA World Cup.
