The government of Chad has announced that Friday, May 6, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday on account of that day's 3 regional by-elections.

The aforementioned by-elections will take place in the Tandjile region (7 seats), in Mayo Boneye (5 seats), and in Mandoul-Occidental (1 seat).

Chad does, on occasion, declare one-off non-working public holidays (2009-12-31), but not as frequently as other neighboring countries.
