Dominican Republic 2012 Public Holidays Announced

The Ministry of Labour of the Dominican Republic has announced the official listing of public holidays in the Dominican Republic for the year 2012.

As was the case in recent years (2010-11-04, 2009-10-20, 2008-11-06, 2007-11-20, 2006-12-06, and 2005-09-15), the list of dates as announced by the Secretary of State for Labour follows the 1997 "Ley No. 139-97 mediante la cual los días feriados del calendario que coincidan con los días martes y miércoles, jueves o viernes" (1997-06-19).

The aforementioned list of 2012 public holidays in the Dominican Republic does not include May 16, 2012, the date of the upcoming Presidential elections, which are an official public holidays in the Dominican Republic (2008-05-14), despite some attempts to the contrary (2009-05-22).
