Ecuador's electoral council (Consejo Nacional Electoral - CNE) has announced that it will ask the government of Ecuador to declare Friday, May 6, 2011, as a one-off public holiday.

This one-off electoral public holiday would facilitate the return of workers to their place of electoral registration in view of the Saturday, May 7, 2011, referendum.
