Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) has announced that Saturday, March 19, 2011, the date of the upcoming referendum on constitutional amendments, would be an official public holiday.

Although the aforementioned announcement specifies that the March 19 public holiday will apply to "all state institutions, universities and schools", we expect it to be observed by the private sector as well.
