The government of Georgia has confirmed that the upcoming Nowruz, on Monday, March 21, 2011, would be a public holiday for the first time.
Last year (2010-03-20), Georgia's President, Mikheil Saakashvili, had declared Sunday, March 21, 2010, an official non-working public holiday in Georgia, on account of that day's Nowruz, spring equinox, holiday, and had later (2010-03-24) indicated that this could become an annual public holiday.
